Ms. Gabriela Diaz Guardamino, Chief Marketing Officer, IKEA Japan

She has been the Marketing Director of IKEA Japan since September 2017. She was previously Marketing Director at IKEA Spain with an 18-year career in the company. Since then she has focused on building a strong, loved and desired brand; a brand today that is a reference in 360º on & off communication in Spain and a model at an international level. Proof of this is the presence of IKEA in rankings (Meaninful Brands) that place it in the 'top-5' of the most relevant brands in Spain and, therefore, refute compliance with the objective of IKEA being perceived as a company and brand unique, relevant and trustworthy.

Actively participates in various management, business and development comitees  of the company, both nationally and internationally. Among them, she is part of the international group responsible for the global positioning of the brand.

There are a series of characteristics that define  "Gabriela’s formula" of doing things, facing the challenges, leading the department and applying the day to day work at IKEA. They define her style of work. Always apply curiosity, renew, advance, do not fear error, or be different and dare ... and, to be wrong, learn from it. And always from humility and courage. In their decisions, the client is always at the center, the result of a dialogue with them. And the result, campaigns, actions, projects ... that "reach the heart" of people and respond to what they expect from IKEA. Understanding the management of the media, more than 6 million IKEA Family members included in the company's CRM and a vast digital community, home visits ... are some of the tools to listen to customers and are always present in the department that leads.

It has been awarded several awards and recognitions, the most recent, As one of the 100 most creative minds in the area of business in 2018 by Forbes Spain, Women to Watch in Europe 2017, by Advertising Age; Best marketing professional of the EFI Awards 2017, entity that has repeatedly awarded IKEA communication campaigns. In 2016, she was named "Woman to Follow" by the Magazine Ads and holds the "Best Professional 2015" award by the  Spanish National Marketing Association.

Gabriela is an active member of the Woman4Change association, to improve opportunities for women in organizations and in society. Likewise, it is a woman  "PROMOCIONA" an Executive Program for Women in Senior Management that seeks to strengthen and develop women's professional and leadership competencies and skills in their promotion to the front line of the organization. This project is promoted by the CEOE together with ESADE. The Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality participates and receives the support of the European Union.

Annually she is invited to participate actively in conferences and professional forums in which she deals with aspects of evolution and trends in marketing, brand creation or transformation of them through creativity and marketing.

Gabriela was born in Bilbao, is married 17 years ago and is mother of two wonderful daughters, aged 15 and 9 years old. She is proud of being able to transfer an example to her environment of balance between personal and professional career; be a mother, daughter, sister, wife and also develop their career and professional performance.
